The government of the United Kingdom has delivered a new batch of Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine to ensure the continuation of strikes on military targets within Russian territory during the winter, according to Bloomberg.

According to the media outlet, the delivery was made in an unspecified quantity, but its goal is to guarantee that Ukraine maintains a stockpile of high-precision weapons during a period when London expects intensified Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Amid increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, the United Kingdom and other allies seek to demonstrate to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that support for Kyiv will remain unwavering and will surpass the capacity of the Russian economy to sustain the war.

It is likely that London’s new move is a response to US President Donald Trump’s refusal to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

It is noted that Storm Shadow missiles have already proven their effectiveness, as in October, Ukrainian forces reported striking a Russian chemical plant using the British-made weapon.

Storm Shadow

Storm Shadow is a high-precision air-launched missile with a range of over 250 km, flying at low altitudes and using MBDA’s combined navigation systems.

It is worth noting that London does not disclose the volume of missiles transferred to Ukraine and does not make regular announcements about their deliveries.

Ukraine’s use of Storm Shadow on Russian territory

In November of last year, Western media reported that Ukraine’s Defense Forces used Storm Shadow missiles for the first time to strike targets inside Russian territory.

According to reports, a strike on an underground military command post in the village of Maryino in the Kursk region killed about 500 North Korean soldiers and Russian officers.

At the same time, the UK government has not disclosed the exact number of missiles transferred to Ukraine during the war. The last confirmed Storm Shadow delivery was in April, during the premiership of Rishi Sunak.
