Today, on Tuesday, October 21, Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Bryansk chemical plant with missiles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces continue to strike strategic targets of Russia’s military-industrial complex, thereby weakening the offensive potential of the Russian army.

"On October 21, 2025, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with the Ground Forces, the Navy, and other components of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, struck the Bryansk chemical plant," the statement said.

The General Staff added that the massive combined missile and air strike included the use of air-launched Storm Shadow missiles, which successfully penetrated Russia’s air defence system.

The results of the strike are currently being verified.

Earlier, Russian social media channels reported that Ukraine had launched aircraft for a missile strike on Russian territory, specifically targeting the Bryansk region.

The General Staff noted that the Bryansk chemical plant is a key element of Russia’s defence industry. The facility manufactures gunpowder, explosives, and rocket fuel components, including materials used for ammunition and missiles employed in Russian attacks on Ukraine.

Strikes on Bryansk region

The Bryansk region has frequently come under attack by unidentified drones and other weapons in recent weeks.

For instance, during the night of October 6, Russian sources complained of a large fire at a thermal power substation in the city of Klintsy. Residents later reported power outages and claimed the facility had been hit by a missile strike.

More recently, on October 19, members of the partisan movement ATESH destroyed a Russian command-and-control system in the Bryansk border area.

According to the group, a communications tower used for coordinating occupation troops and border units was disabled in the operation.
