The UK is sending an additional shipment of long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine to disrupt Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure ahead of winter, according to Bloomberg.
According to Bloomberg's sources, the issue of replenishing British cruise missile stocks was discussed by UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during their meeting in London.
The delivery will take place as part of the increased support for Ukraine by Western allies.
Sources claim that the British government considers Ukraine's use of long-range weapons against Russian facilities involved in attacks on civilians and infrastructure to be a defensive measure.
London notes that Kyiv has the right to counter Russian escalation and the increased production of drones.
Missiles manufactured by MBDA have a flight range of over 250 kilometers.
They are capable of effectively penetrating Russian air defense systems thanks to low-altitude flight and high speed.
In August, the UK announced plans to share missile blueprints with Kyiv for their assembly directly in Ukraine.
Furthermore, the country is developing inexpensive long-range weapons that do not rely on US components.
The UK will accelerate the supply of Light Multipurpose Missiles (LMM) to Ukraine, which effectively destroy jet-powered Shahed drones, and is also preparing new sanctions against Russia.
This was announced during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to London.
The British government also seeks to build a "bridge" with the US to maintain stable support for Ukraine against the backdrop of international challenges.
In particular, this is happening against the backdrop of settlement attempts and the situation surrounding the "energy ceasefire," which Russia continues to undermine.
