UK wants to help Ukraine repair its relations with the United States. This comes amid an energy ceasefire with Russia, which Moscow is violating, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham told reporters, according to Sky News.
Burnham accuses Russia
Burnham accuses Russia of breaking the energy ceasefire, the outlet reports.
The limited ceasefire was initiated by US President Donald Trump following mutual strikes by Moscow and Kyiv on oil and gas facilities.
"President Trump called for an energy ceasefire; President Zelenskyy said he would engage in that immediately," the prime minister said.
Burnham noted that Russia has bombarded Ukraine's energy infrastructure in recent days.
"So it is quite clear once again to the world who the aggressor is in this conflict," he said.
"Bridge" with the US
The prime minister acknowledged that it had been "a difficult few days" for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Ukrainian leader visited Britain on October 14, where he said he felt betrayed by Trump.
Burnham promised to "build that bridge" with the US to ensure continued support for Ukraine and bring "the parties together behind" Zelenskyy.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine will in no way be involved in the diesel deal between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine feels betrayed by the loss of such a powerful partner as the US, but has no intention of giving up or "selling" its country.
