The UK is allocating a new aid package to Ukraine. In this context, Defense Secretary John Healey commented on the "critical year" in the war, as Sky News reports.

"Our job as defense ministers is to get urgent military aid into the hands of Ukrainian warfighters," Healey said.

The UK Defense Secretary urged those present to rethink how they can help Ukraine.

"Today, we will pledge billions more (in more funding to Ukraine's military - ed.)," Healey noted.

The UK Defense Secretary spoke about the "critical year" in Russia's war against Ukraine.

"2025 is the critical year for the war in Ukraine, and this is the critical moment. We stand with you in the fight and we stand with you in the peace," Healey said.

New UK aid package for Ukraine

The Defense Secretary also noted that the UK allocated £350 million in aid to Ukraine on the morning of April 11, as part of a broader aid package worth £450 million, which, according to him, will strengthen British-Ukrainian industrial ties and provide Kyiv with more weaponry.

According to Healey, the British aid package includes, among other things, radars, anti-tank mines, and hundreds of thousands of drones.

The UK high-ranking official added that the package of British assistance includes funding for the repair of military equipment.

"This is part of new efforts to repair thousands of Ukrainian vehicles," the UK Defense Secretary stated.

Ramstein meeting on April 11

On April 11, the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) meeting is taking place at NATO headquarters. Despite reports of the possible absence of the Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, he will still participate in the meeting online.

On the agenda are strengthening Ukraine's air defense, new arms supplies, and the development of defense-industrial cooperation. Just yesterday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that there are already some agreements with partners regarding additional air defense systems.

As previously reported, Ukraine will receive a new military aid package from Germany. It will include important weaponry that Kyiv has long been requesting.
