UK announces new government composition: Leaders of key departments
In Britain, the composition of the new government after the parliamentary elections is known. In particular, the Secretary of State for Defense and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs were named, according to the new British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
David Lammy became the new British Foreign Secretary and John Healey the new Defense Secretary. They are both supporters of Ukraine.
Healey and Lemmy's visit to Kyiv
Healey and Lemmy already visited Kyiv in May this year. During their visit, they met with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, and outlined their plan to help Ukraine, based on defense supplies, diplomatic contacts, and more.
“A change in government in the UK would mean no change in our military, diplomatic, financial and political support to Ukraine,” Lammy said at that time.
They also promised to help Ukraine on its way to NATO.
Today, July 5, Keir Starmer officially became the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. His party won the parliamentary elections.
