UAW files complaint against Trump and Musk for threats to strikers
The United Auto Workers (UAW) in the US has filed a complaint against presidential candidate Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk to the National Labor Relations Board, according to the organization's official website.
The UAW accuses both of attempting to threaten and intimidate workers. This refers to a moment in a recent interview between Trump and Musk on X, where the politician praised the businessman for his ability to "optimize" the workforce despite protests.
"I look at what you do. You walk in, you say, You want to quit? They go on strike, I won’t mention the name of the company, but they go on strike and you say, That’s OK, you’re all gone. You’re all gone. So, every one of you is gone,” Trump said, to which Musk laughed.
In response, the UAW reminded that under US federal law, workers cannot be fired for participating in a strike, and threats of firing them are illegal.
“Both Trump and Musk want working-class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns,” said UAW President Shawn Fain.
Trump's Interview with Musk
Last week, Trump announced that he would give a "major interview" to the famous billionaire Elon Musk.
In it, the US presidential candidate also discussed his past conversation with the Russian president Vladimir Putin, and how he advised him to abandon plans to invade Ukraine.
