U.S. Transportation Secretary arrives in Kyiv for unannounced visit
The Secretary of Transportation of the United States of America Pete Buttigieg arrived in the capital of Ukraine today, November 8. Bridget Brink, the US Ambassador to Ukraine, wrote about this on her Twitter (X). The visit to Kyiv by an American official was not announced previously.
The diplomat posted a joint photo online with the head of the US Department of Transportation at the Kyiv railway station.

"Glad to welcome Secretary Pete Buttigieg to Ukraine," she captioned the picture.
The ambassador also clarified that today's message from the American side is clear: the United States supports Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
Information about Buttigieg
Pete Buttigieg had planned to run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in the 2020 election but later withdrew his candidacy.
The 41-year-old official is the 19th Secretary of Transportation of the United States. Buttigieg is the first US minister from the LGBT community to be confirmed by the Senate.
Before working in the government, he was the mayor of the city of South Bend, but he had a seven-month break in this position, during which he served in Afghanistan as a lieutenant in the Navy Reserve. To this day, he remains an active lieutenant in the naval reserve.
