U.S. deploys aircraft carrier group to eastern mediterranean due to Israel war
The United States is deploying its aircraft carrier group to the eastern Mediterranean Sea in response to the terrorist attacks by HAMAS on Israel, confirms U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
The U.S. Secretary of Defense has directed the deployment of the U.S. Navy's aircraft carrier strike group, the "Gerald R. Ford," to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
Additionally, the United States has taken steps to bolster the squadrons of F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter jets from the U.S. Air Force in the region.
Furthermore, the U.S. will provide military and technical assistance to Israel, including the supply of ammunition.
According to the Secretary of Defense, the first part of the assistance will reach Israel in the coming days.
Austin also emphasized that the United States maintains the readiness of its forces worldwide for further reinforcement if necessary.
What proceeded this
Yesterday, HAMAS terrorists infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and engaged in combat with Israeli forces. HAMAS managed to capture several populated areas.
By evening, Israeli military forces had regained control of the majority of the territory and launched strikes in response to military targets and HAMAS headquarters.
Israel declared a "state of war" and initiated the counter-terrorism operation called "Operation Iron Swords." Due to the HAMAS attack in Israel, at least 500 people have lost their lives.
Previously, President Joe Biden had assured that the United States would ensure Jerusalem received all necessary assistance to defend itself against the terrorist threat. Following this assurance, he ordered additional support for Israel.
Furthermore, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had announced that the United States would announce further support for Israel today.
