Trump vs. Harris debate: CNN poll determines winner
According to a survey conducted by CNN in the United States, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris was declared the winner of the presidential debate against Donald Trump. This opinion was shared by 63% of respondents, according to CNN.
In contrast, 37% of Americans believe that Trump's performance was stronger.
These results were announced live on the network.
Registered voters who watched the debate between Harris and Trump on September 10 said that the Vice President outperformed her opponent, according to CNN’s survey of debate viewers conducted by SSRS.
Before the debate, the same group of voters was split evenly on which candidate would perform better: 50% favored Harris, while 50% sided with Trump.
The survey also revealed that debate viewers had a six-point higher likelihood of being Republican-leaning compared to Democrat-leaning, meaning the audience was approximately four percentage points more inclined toward the Republican Party than the overall registered electorate in the country.
Survey methodology
CNN’s poll was conducted via text messages with 605 registered voters in the US who reported watching the debate. The results reflect only the views of those who watched the event.
Respondents were recruited ahead of the debate and were selected from the SSRS Opinion Panel, a nationally representative group formed using probability-based sampling methods.
The margin of error for the full sample of debate viewers is +/- 5.3 percentage points.
CNN emphasized that the survey results represent the opinions of debate viewers only and do not reflect the views of the general public.
As a reminder, following the June debates between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, 67% of Americans surveyed by CNN declared Trump the winner.
It was previously reported that a debate between presidential candidates Trump and Harris took place yesterday, September 10.
