The United States did not restrict Starlink's operations in Ukraine, even though President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed the US government, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, cited by NBC News.
The day before, Zelenskyy publicly said he believed the US government was responsible for the slowdown in Starlink's operations in Ukraine. However, Bessent rejected the accusations and criticized the Ukrainian president.
"President Trump and Secretary Rubio have categorically said that no one in the Trump administration did that. And I think it is very reckless for President Zelenskyy to make such a charge," he said.
A journalist asked the Treasury secretary who could have done it if not the US government.
"I don't know anything about that, but we've been very clear. And President Zelenskyy should be very careful about making statements like these that are not true," Bessent added.
The secretary also challenged Zelenskyy's claim that Ukraine must win the war.
He stressed that Trump wants to end the war, not secure a victory for either side.
"President Zelenskyy presented a false formula this morning: that Ukraine must win, the war must end. And that will be some kind of negotiated settlement. President Trump is working on that every day. He's done this since he came in the office," Bessent said.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said the United States had withheld data on Russian ballistic missile attacks from Ukraine for three days.
However, he said the two countries eventually resumed intelligence sharing.
