US President Donald Trump may hold a press conference alone following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to CNN.

"I’m going to have a press conference. I don’t know if it’s going to be a joint. We haven’t even discussed it. I think it might be nice to have a joint and then separates," Trump said.

The president also clarified that if the meeting goes badly, he will just hold a press conference and return to Washington.

In the event of an unsuccessful meeting, Trump wants to hold a press conference to announce that "the war is going to go on."

Trump-Putin meeting

On Friday, August 15, US President Donald Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time since the start of his second presidential term.

They will discuss both Russia’s war against Ukraine and bilateral issues.

Trump said he plans to discuss with Putin a possible meeting involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The American leader also stated that there is a 25% chance the meeting could go badly. If it does fail, he may respond by imposing sanctions on Russia.
