US President Donald Trump commented on negotiations with Iran, saying that something "very positive" will happen soon. He also noted that Tehran has agreed to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions, CNN reports.

"Iran wants to make a deal, and we’re dealing very nicely with them. We’ve got to have no nuclear weapons. That’s a big factor, and they’re willing to do things today that they weren’t two months ago," Trump stated.

He emphasized that Iran has agreed not to have nuclear weapons.

"So we have a lot of agreement with Iran, and I think something’s going to happen, very positive, very important," the US President added.

Trump also noted that the next round of in-person talks could take place "over the weekend."

US–Iran negotiations

On April 11, a US delegation led by Vice President JD Vance held talks with Iran in Pakistan. The following morning, Vance told reporters that the meeting ended without an agreement to stop the war.

As a result, the delegation returned to Washington empty-handed. Vance suggested at the time that the key obstacle was Iran’s refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

At the same time, Trump said the talks in Pakistan "went well." According to him, the sides reached an understanding on many issues, but the question of nuclear weapons remained unresolved.

He also stressed that it does not matter to him whether a deal is reached or not, saying the United States wins in any case.
