US President Donald Trump criticized the latest statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that a peace deal with Russia is "still very far away," Trump wrote about this on his social media platform, Truth.

"This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer! It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?" Trump wrote.

The day before, during a conversation with journalists, Zelenskyy stated that a deal to end the war in Ukraine is still very far away. According to him, no one has yet begun taking such steps.

The president said that they were talking about the first steps that day and that until they were on paper, they wouldn’t want to go into too much detail about them. He mentioned that a peace agreement to end the war was still a very, very long way off and added that no one had started all these steps yet.

Trump and Zelenskyy clash

On February 28, Zelenskyy visited the White House, where he met with US President Donald Trump. During their conversation, a heated exchange broke out between Zelenskyy, Trump, and US Vice President J.D. Vance over the war and Ukraine's alleged "ingratitude."

Later, it became known that Zelenskyy left the White House ahead of schedule. Trump accused the Ukrainian president of allegedly being unwilling to make peace. Following this, reports emerged in the media suggesting that the US was considering ending its assistance to Ukraine.

We also reported that Zelenskyy believes he can still salvage his relationship with US President Donald Trump after their tense meeting at the White House.

The Ukrainian leader noted that negotiations should continue behind closed doors.
