According to the sources among Washington's allies, the United States is pushing to secure a deal before US President Donald Trump hosts celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence on July 4.

At the same time, senior European politicians and NATO officials say there are no signs that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is prepared to agree to any deal that fails to meet his core demands.

The report notes that negotiations have already missed several deadlines set by the US administration, and even some American officials privately admit they see no indication that Putin is ready to compromise on his maximalist positions.

How Trump envisions ending the war in Ukraine

Earlier, it was reported that Trump wants to sign an agreement on security guarantees and the end of the war in Ukraine during a large-scale ceremony. However, Ukraine insists that the deal must first be approved by Congress.

The Ukrainian side maintains that security guarantees should be agreed upon and ratified by the US Congress before any signing takes place. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this would give the Ukrainian people confidence that they can rely on their allies in the future.

Previously, the US President also stated that the war in Ukraine had proven more difficult than he had expected. He noted that he had initially considered it the easiest to resolve.
