On July 8, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would no longer observe a ceasefire with Iran and was ending efforts to negotiate with Tehran. Speaking at the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump explained the reasons behind the decision, according to DRM News.
Amid the latest escalation, the US president repeatedly referred to Iranians as "crazy" and "evil."
He also said he hated them.
"I don't want to deal with them anymore; they're scum. You know what scum is? They're scum. They're sick people. They're led by sick people. And they're vicious, violent people. They're cancer, and you know what you have to do - you have to cut out cancer early," Trump added.
According to Trump, the ceasefire with Iran is over for the United States, and the memorandum of understanding has been canceled.
"Frankly, I don't want to waste my time with them," Trump concluded.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that US forces had carried out strikes on Iran following an Iranian attack on commercial vessels.
The United States also recently revoked a sanctions waiver that had allowed Tehran to export oil.
Amid the latest developments, global oil prices have once again surged sharply.
