President of the United States Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would like to come to the White House again. However, he added that the peace agreement needs to be finalized first, according to the White House.
During a conversation with the press, journalists asked whether Trump expects Volodymyr Zelenskyy to come to him, to which the US leader replied:
"He would like to come, but I think we should get a deal done first. We're having good talks. We started with Russia. We're having some talks with Russia. Ukraine is doing well. I think they're happy about it. I'd like to see it end… we are making progress," the head of the White House said.
Trump also repeated that he had resolved eight wars and thought the issue with Ukraine would be the easiest due to his relationship with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. However, he again said that there is a "lot of hatred" between the sides.
US peace plan and Zelenskyy's visit
Western media recently published a new US peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. It consisted of 28 points and, to put it mildly, was favorable to Russia and perceived largely as a capitulation by Ukraine.
For this reason, on Sunday, November 23, an emergency meeting took place in Geneva between delegations from the US, Ukraine, and Europe to revise the document and make it more acceptable for Kyiv.
According to the Financial Times, the document was reduced from 28 to 19 points. However, during his press conference, Trump hinted that the plan had been cut to 22 points.
After the Geneva talks, Kyiv and Washington issued a joint statement saying that both sides had developed a framework agreement, and its final details would be determined during a meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy.
As reported in the media, and as Trump himself mentioned, Ukraine was given a deadline of November 27. However, during his most recent conversation with journalists, he said that he had not set any deadlines.
Meanwhile, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, wrote yesterday that Zelenskyy is ready to meet with Trump as soon as possible, adding that this could happen as early as the 27th.
