US President Donald Trump supported Chinese leader Xi Jinping's remarks about the decline of the United States, but attributed it exclusively to the policies of the previous administration. In his view, over the past year and a half, the country has transformed into the most powerful state in the world.
The American leader commented on recent statements by the head of the PRC. Xi Jinping called the United States "a nation in decline." Trump believes this assessment applies only to the previous period, emphasizing what he described as the catastrophic consequences of Democratic policies.
"When President Xi very elegantly referred to the United States as perhaps being a declining nation, he was referring to the tremendous damage we suffered during the four years of Sleepy Joe Biden and the Biden administration, and on that score, he was 100% correct," Trump said.
What Trump says Biden did wrong
The current White House chief outlined in detail the problems that, according to him, were destroying America. He listed both domestic and foreign challenges. The list was extensive.
Main factors of decline, according to Trump:
- Open borders and uncontrolled migration;
- High taxes for citizens and businesses;
- Promotion of gender ideology and participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports;
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs;
- Poor trade deals and rampant crime.
What Trump praised himself for
Trump points to an "incredible rise" during his second presidency. He believes Xi Jinping is aware of these changes, noting that the Chinese leader even congratulated him on his successes.
"President Xi was not referring to the incredible rise that the United States has displayed to the world during the 16 spectacular months of the Trump administration," he emphasized.
He highlighted key achievements:
- Record-high stock market performance'
- Military successes and the "military decimation of Iran," which he says he will continue;
- The strongest labor market in US history;
- A record $18 trillion in foreign investment.
Trump added that America has once again become an "economic powerhouse." In his view, the United States is now the "hottest nation" in the world.
At the end of the statement, Trump stressed that he wants relations with China to be "stronger and better than ever." He believes a strong America forces both partners and competitors to respect Washington.
What the US economy is actually like
Americans, facing high gasoline prices, are increasingly criticizing Trump and blaming Republicans. According to opinion polls, US citizens find the war in Iran confusing, as it is hitting their wallets hard.
In addition, due to the need to save money, Americans are increasingly turning to second-hand goods. Demand in thrift stores has increased ninefold.
