Trump says he's done talking to Putin

US President Donald Trump is no longer going to talk to Russian leader Vladimir Putin about a ceasefire with Ukraine, as he told reporters at a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The American president was asked whether he believes that Putin is deceiving him about his intentions to conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine.
"Well, I don't want to use the word lying. All I know is that we had a good talk, and it seemed, let's say, on three occasions, it seemed that we were going to have a ceasefire, maybe peace, and you divide it up and you do whatever you have to do that obviously to get to the end. And all of a sudden, missiles are flying into Kyiv and other places. And I say, 'What's that all about?'" Trump said.
He said he spoke with Putin for three or four hours, "and it looked like we were on our way (to a ceasefire - ed.)."
"And then I said: Forget it. And I'm not going to talk anymore. You know, this has happened on too many occasions, and I don't like it," Trump added.
The US President noted that he is no longer interested in talking to Putin.
"I'm not so interested in talking anymore. He talks with such nice conversations, such respectful and nice conversations, and then people die the following night with a missile going into the town and hitting. I mean, recently, I guess a nursing home... But they hit other things, whatever they hit, people die," Trump said.
Trump's ultimatum to Putin
Donald Trump warned Russia of new sanctions if Vladimir Putin does not end the war against Ukraine. At first, Moscow was given 50 days to make a decision.
Trump announced plans to impose 100% secondary tariffs on countries that continue to trade with Russia.
According to media reports, these restrictions could affect Russian oil exports to China, India, and Türkiye.
The American president said that if Putin does not agree to meet the deadline and sign a peace agreement, it will turn out "very badly" for Russia.
Today, Trump said that he was again disappointed with Putin's actions and shortened his 50-day deadline for Putin to reach a ceasefire with Ukraine. He is giving Russia "10 or 12" days to end the Ukraine war, as "we've just don't see any progress being made."
