It will be very bad for Russia after 50 days if no agreement on Ukraine is reached, stated US President Donald Trump while speaking to journalists.

Journalists asked Trump what would happen to Russia once the 50-day ceasefire deadline expires, and whether he plans to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"At the end of 50 days, if we don't have a deal, it's going to be too bad... the tariffs are going to go on, and other sanctions go on," Trump said.

When asked why he gave Putin so much time, Trump replied that the implementation of trade tariffs could happen even before the stated deadline.

"I don't think 50 days is very long, and it could be sooner than that... You should have asked the same question to Biden. Why did he get us into this war? What did he tell you? You know why he got us in? Because he's a dummy, that's why, and you don't cover it right. You should ask that question to Biden. Why did he get us into this war? Because he's incompetent, and it would never have happened if I were president," Trump said.

Trump gives Putin 50 days to reach a peace deal

US President Donald Trump expressed disappointment with Russian leader Vladimir Putin over the lack of progress in peace negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine. According to Trump, he had expected a deal to be reached two months ago, but it never happened. In response to the delay, Trump vowed to impose tough economic measures on Russia.

"We're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don't have a deal in 50 days, it’s very simple. And they’ll be at 100 percent, and that’s the way it is," the US President emphasized.

He also expressed hope that such measures can be avoided, but stressed that the US is ready to act firmly.
