Trump says he 'recovered well' after assassination attempt
US presidential candidate Donald Trump said that he recovered from the attempted assassination attempt on his life that took place on July 13. On Friday night, he appeared in Florida at an event of young conservatives without a bandage on his right ear, reports Bloomberg.
“As you can see, I’ve recovered well and in fact just took the last bandage off my ear,” he said.
In his speech, which lasted a little over an hour, Trump called Kamala Harris a “radical liberal,” “incompetent” and a “bum,” but refrained from using derogatory nicknames he has used in the past.
Responding to the speech posted on X, Harris' team said: “America can do better than the bitter, bizarre and backward looking delusions of criminal Donald Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris offers a vision for America’s future focused on freedom, opportunity and security.”
Trump's injury
After the attempted assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump was taken off stage with a bloody right ear.
So far, the federal law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, including the FBI and the Secret Service, have repeatedly refused to provide information about the cause of Trump's injury. Trump's team has also refused to release medical records from the hospital where he was first treated.
On July 25, FBI Director Christopher Wray said that there was still a question whether Trump was hit by a bullet during the shooting. Wray suggested that the former president could have been hit by a piece of shrapnel.
The FBI plans to summon Trump for questioning in this case.
On July 26, the FBI confirmed that a bullet had indeed hit the former US president's ear, whole or fragmented.
