Trump's team believes war in Ukraine could end next week

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that US President Donald Trump is confident in his ability to strike a deal with Russia to end the conflict in Ukraine. Speaking about Trump, she suggested that the end of the three-year war could come as soon as this (next) week, according to The Hill.
"The president, his team are very much focused on continuing negotiations with both sides of this war to end the conflict and the president is very confident we can get it done this week," she said.
Her comments came after Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has no cards and should refrain from negotiating with international leaders on further peace talks.
However, it should be noted that such statements regarding the timeline for ending the war have not come directly from Trump himself.
Leavitt also mentioned that National Security Advisor Mike Waltz will be working non-stop this weekend on the deal. She added that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is involved in the discussion of an agreement with Ukraine regarding mining resources. Meanwhile, Euromaidan reports that the deal Waltz will be working on refers to a deal on natural resources.
"When it comes to the critical minerals, this is an important piece for the president. It’s very important for the president, because it will recoup American tax dollars. And it also will be a great economic partnership between the United States of America and for the Ukrainian people as well as they rebuild their country following this brutal war," Leavitt added.
Yesterday, Donald Trump stated that after agreements with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, there is hope for peace. Additionally, he mentioned that the US and Ukraine are close to reaching an agreement regarding mineral resources.
