US President Donald Trump said that after contacts with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, there is hope for peace. He also said that the United States and Ukraine are close to a deal on subsoil, according to the Voice of America broadcast.

"War is a very important thing between Russia and Ukraine. People are dying, mostly young Ukrainians and Russians, in numbers that have not been seen in many years. I have spoken to President Putin and I hope that this will all end soon. It's a terrible war, it's hard to watch. I'm talking to President Zelensky and President Putin," Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

The US President once again emphasized that if he had been the head of the White House, Russia would never have invaded Ukraine. Russia, in turn, invaded for some reasons. Trump did not name them.

He also noted that he is trying to return the money that was allocated to Ukraine. According to him, Europe allocated $100 billion and the US $350 billion because the US had an "incompetent administration and president."

"But what's even worse is that Europe gave it in the form of a loan, they will get their money back. And we are just giving it to them for free, I want them to give us something in return for the money we have given them. And I will try to resolve this situation because we demand from them what we can get - rare earth metals and oil. The situation in Europe, of course, does not affect us, we are there because of Biden, but why hasn't he leveled the playing field, why are we spending so much more than Europe," Trump said.

He added that Biden didn't even know that Europe would get the money, and the US, in turn, would not get anything, but wanted to return it to make it fair.

Trump also added that Ukraine and the United States are quite close to an agreement on subsoil.
