A helicopter carrying US President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, made an emergency landing in London on Thursday, September 18, due to a hydraulic issue, The Independent informs.

According to reports, Trump and his wife were forced to transfer to another helicopter while en route to London Stansted Airport.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the helicopter carrying the US president landed at Luton Airport "due to a minor hydraulic issue."

She added that the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."

Leavitt noted that Trump safely boarded the backup helicopter, with his arrival delayed by just a few minutes.
