Trump's conditions for selling weapons to Ukraine: Expert explains

Political technologist Taras Zahorodnii believes that the US can no longer exert effective pressure on Russia. He also noted in a comment to the YouTube channel RBC-Ukraine that Ukraine is becoming an important player in global politics.
Ukraine is increasingly at the center of international politics, creating new challenges for the US, Russia, and Europe. In particular, against the backdrop of the ongoing war with Russia, it has become evident that America finds it more challenging to influence the situation.
Changes in strategic approaches and internal political upheavals in the US, as mentioned by political technologist Taras Zahorodnii, open new prospects for Ukraine.
"The leverage of pressure is disappearing for the Americans; it may turn out that they are not needed at all in some matters. This will not please the American arms lobby because it appears that many of their systems are ineffective. Ukraine is modernizing and modifying a lot to ensure the weaponry functions," Zahorodnii claims.
He believes that time is working against Russia and that the modernization of the Ukrainian army is becoming a crucial factor in this context.
Zahorodnii also touches on US internal politics, particularly the electoral struggle. He explains that US President Donald Trump is trying to understand the real state of the Russian economy and fears a potential collapse of Russia. However, according to the expert, this is not only Trump's policy but also the policy of the US as a whole over the last 100 years, as America has always supported the territorial integrity of Russia.
"There will be pressure, but it's a heavy burden for Trump," he adds, noting that the situation in Ukraine significantly influences political events within the United States. Democrats have already begun to leverage the internal issues of the Republican Party, while Trump needs to find a balance to avoid disappointing his electorate.
Furthermore, the escalation of the situation between the US and Russia also pertains to economic aspects, particularly agreements regarding rare earth metals. "He suspects traps everywhere because this whole agreement on rare earth metals is a justification for his electorate as to why the US should continue to support Ukraine," Zahorodnii points out.
Europe is finding new resources to aid Ukraine
European countries are also actively engaging in financial and military support processes for Ukraine. According to Zahorodnii, the EU has already identified 30,000 peacekeepers, and this is only the first stage. Additionally, amid the economic crisis, Europe has begun searching for financial reserves to fund military supplies, including through COVID-19 funds.
Today, the European Union is allocating significant funds for armaments, and European leaders, including Ursula von der Leyen, are finding new financial instruments to support Ukraine.
In Zahorodnii's view, the US may face a situation where their arguments for aiding Ukraine are no longer as convincing. The remaining questions are whether there will be real assistance and elections. Given the inability to stop Putin, US policy may encounter serious challenges. Thus, the situation remains extremely complex, and it is vital to monitor developments on the global political stage.
It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump is attempting to influence Ukraine; however, Kyiv is not willing to make concessions. Political technologist Taras Zahorodnii emphasizes that tensions are already arising between the US and Russia, which could lead to conflict.
