US leader Donald Trump says in an interview with CBS News that he is not even thinking about a third presidential term. However, according to him, Republicans have a stronger bench than Democrats.
According to Trump, he is receiving calls to run for re-election, but so far sees no reason to do so.
"Well, I don't even think about it. I will tell you, a lotta people want me to run. But the difference between us and the Democrats is we really do have a strong bench," he said.
The US President refused to name possible successors, noting that it was too early for such discussions to begin. At the same time, he spoke positively about a number of Republicans who are being mentioned as potential candidates.
"I do like JD Vance. I like Marco Rubio. I like so many people. We have an unbelievable bench," he said.
Responding to a question about his plans for the remainder of his current term, Trump said he expects to maintain his pace.
"I hope I can have the same year that we had. Look, we have been acknowledged to have the greatest nine months. You know, it's nine months. The greatest nine months in the history of the presidency. So if I can keep that going I'll be very happy," the American leader said.
What people saying in US about future presidential candidates?
In October, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is rumored to be a possible presidential candidate, answered questions about his plans to run.
According to him, the Republican candidate will most likely be another politician, current Vice President JD Vance.
"He's a good friend of mine and he's doing a great job," Rubio added.
In turn, Vance announced in August that he was ready to lead the US, but only on condition that something happened to the American leader, Donald Trump.
At the same time, Axios wrote in early 2025 that Vance was already being positioned as the successor to Make America Great Again (MAGA) in 2028, that is, as a presidential candidate.
