Rubio names potential Republican presidential nominee to succeed Trump

During the interview, the host noted that, according to several sources, US President Donald Trump had named Marco Rubio as a potential successor to lead his MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement.

In this context, Rubio was asked whether he would run in the 2028 presidential election if Trump wanted him to. However, according to the US Secretary of State, another person will lead the movement.

Well, the next Republican nominee, I believe, will be Vice President Vance if he chooses to run, and he's a good friend of mine and he's doing a great job,” Rubio said.

He added that they have a great team and that all of them are working for the president.

Earlier in the interview, the host mentioned that, according to several sources, Rubio’s main responsibility lies in foreign policy. However, she added that he also possesses strong knowledge and advisory skills in domestic affairs. The secretary of state then clarified the distinction between his role and Trump’s.

"Let's be clear here, okay? The president, our job, and that's something people get confused sometimes. Our job is to implement the president's agenda. Can we give advice? Can we give ideas? Yes, but ultimately, he is the person who Americans have elected," Rubio concluded.

J.D. Vance as US presidential candidate

In March 2025, Axios reported that many long-time aides and supporters of Donald Trump view J. D. Vance as the next Republican candidate for president.

They believe that Trump has dismantled the old Republican Party, and Vance could complete the creation of a new one.

A few months ago, J. D. Vance himself said that he was ready to become head of state, but only “if something were to happen to Donald Trump.”
