US President Donald Trump refused to accuse Russia of violating the energy ceasefire with Ukraine that he announced on October 11, the American leader said while speaking to reporters.
Trump was asked to comment on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement that Russian forces had struck six Ukrainian energy facilities on October 12 alone.
"Well, Ukraine hit many sites the day before," the president replied.
He also promised to clarify later whether Russia had violated the energy ceasefire.
Zelenskyy's statement
Yesterday, October 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia had ignored Trump's energy ceasefire and attacked six Ukrainian energy facilities.
At the same time, Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine had not attacked Russian oil refineries either yesterday or today.
In response to Trump's energy ceasefire initiative, the Kremlin stated that no agreements had been reached and discussions were ongoing.
Zelenskyy himself emphasized Ukraine's readiness to observe the energy ceasefire. However, according to him, the US had not informed Kyiv about Trump's initiative in advance.
