Ukraine has not attacked Russian oil refineries or energy infrastructure for two days, while Russia has struck 19 Ukrainian regions during this period, including energy facilities, according to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
"Ukraine did not strike Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general for two days after the US president announced a ceasefire in the energy sector. But Russia did not heed the US president," Zelenskyy said.
According to Zelenskyy, over the two days, Russia attacked both energy facilities and critical infrastructure. In doing so, the enemy sent "absolutely clear signals that they have no intention of refraining from strikes on Ukraine."
The president added that Russia attacked 19 Ukrainian regions over the two days. Ukraine's position remains unchanged: Ukraine is ready to take reciprocal de-escalation steps, and effective pressure on Russia is needed.
Energy ceasefire
On Sunday, October 11, US President Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia on social media. According to him, both sides had agreed to it.
However, Zelenskyy later said that he had learned about the initiative from the news. At the same time, Ukraine's position on a ceasefire remains unchanged. Ukraine has repeatedly called for a ceasefire, but this also requires Russia's consent, which has not been given.
The Kremlin was in no hurry to respond and commented only yesterday, saying that discussions on the initiative were ongoing.
