Trump reacts to murder of Ukrainian woman in US and promises to take action

US President Donald Trump called the American who stabbed a Ukrainian refugee in Charlotte a "madman," according to Trump’s remarks before the White House Commission on International Religious Freedom.
"I give my love and hope to the family of the young woman who was stabbed this morning in Charlotte by a madman," he said, calling the incident "vicious" and the killer "a person of evil."
The US president noted that he had seen video footage of the attack, emphasizing that the country must act decisively.
"We have to be able to handle that. If we don’t handle that, we don’t have a country," Trump said, referring to the wave of violence in the US.
He added that the Department of Justice had created the first-ever task force to combat anti-Christian bias, which he said has reached enormous proportions.
He emphasized that the Trump administration would not tolerate terrorism or political violence, including hate crimes against Christians, Jews, or anyone else, and that it would not allow such acts.
Returning to the Charlotte killing, Trump announced his intention to act firmly and take horrific measures.
Murder of a Ukrainian woman
In the US city of Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 22, 23-year-old Ukrainian Iryna Zarutska, who had emigrated to the US after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, was killed.
The incident took place at the East/West Boulevard light rail station in the South End district. Surveillance footage released on September 5 shows a man approaching the young woman and stabbing her three times in the neck while she was listening to music through headphones. Zarutska died at the scene from her injuries.
The suspect in the crime is 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr., a homeless man with multiple prior offenses.
