Trump provides a reason why Russia 'wants peace' with Ukraine

US President Donald Trump believes that Russia wants to negotiate peace with Ukraine due to the sharp drop in oil prices, the US leader made this statement during a conversation with journalists.
"I think Russia, with the price of oil right now, oil's gone down... I think we're in a good position to settle. They want to settle. Ukraine wants to settle," Trump said.
He once again emphasized that if he hadn’t become president, "no one would be settling" the situation between Ukraine and Russia.
According to the US President, Ukraine and Russia are losing 5,000 people per week. And that's "not including people that are killed as missiles go into areas they shouldn't be."
"It’s a very terrible thing. And we’ve come a long way, and it could be something will happen," the US leader added.
Trump trusts Russia
US President Donald Trump has previously stated several times that he believes Russia wants to end the war against Ukraine.
According to the American leader, Moscow has an incentive to stop the fighting, specifically, the potential for economic relations with the US, which are only possible after a complete ceasefire.
However, yesterday, on May 4, Trump acknowledged that the Russian authorities want to seize all of Ukraine. But they will have to abandon such intentions.
