Trump predicts fighting in Ukraine will end soon

US President Donald Trump stated in an interview with GB News that hostilities in Ukraine must be stopped as soon as possible because it is a “horrible bloodbath,” the biggest since World War II.
"This is a horrible bloodbath, the biggest since World War II. We are putting pressure on them through India and oil; other countries are also stepping in, because when Russia sells oil, it has the money to act. I think we will solve it. I hope soon. Over the past month, 25,000 soldiers have been killed on both sides, roughly equally," Trump said.
The American president noted that he believed he had a very good relationship with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
According to him, this was one of the reasons he thought resolving the war in Ukraine would be an “easy task,” since he had previously settled major conflicts that had lasted for decades in just a few days.
"Even India and Pakistan—nuclear states—were on the verge of a major war. I told them: if you fight, there will be no trade deals. And within 48 hours, we settled the conflict," the US leader added.
Trump refused to meet with Putin
Recall that recently the media reported that US President Donald Trump acknowledged the failure of attempts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine—the United States’ efforts to push the sides toward compromise collapsed due to the Kremlin’s ambitions and Ukraine’s refusal to concede territory.
In October, Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced their intention to hold an in-person meeting in Budapest following a phone call.
However, the American leader soon canceled the meeting.
The reason was Russia’s unwillingness to change its unreasonable demands regarding the conditions for ending the war in Ukraine. Trump publicly stated that he "is not going to waste his time."
After that, on October 23, Trump imposed sanctions on two Russian oil giants—Rosneft and Lukoil. The US Treasury called on Moscow to immediately agree to a ceasefire.
Later, Trump said he was ready for a new meeting with Putin, but only if a real agreement to end the war in Ukraine could be reached.
The Kremlin confirmed that Putin is supposedly not opposed to talks, but a specific date for the summit has not yet been set.
