Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with his American counterpart, Donald Trump. However, there is still no clear understanding of when the meeting might take place, according to Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov.

"At the moment, there are no specific timelines, but there is a principled willingness to hold the meeting if it is carefully prepared by experts in advance," he said.

When asked whether the leaders of the two countries would meet before the New Year, he gave no clear answer.

"I don’t know, I don’t know. You remember how quickly we arranged Anchorage," Ushakov added.

Trump-Putin meeting

Recently, US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Following the call, the US President announced that a new summit would take place in the coming weeks, this time in Budapest.

The summit was to be prepared by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, but Trump later canceled it.

According to media reports, Russia has not changed its maximalist demands regarding ending the war in Ukraine. Trump himself publicly said he doesn’t want to waste his time.

Additionally, on the night of October 23, the United States imposed sanctions on the country's largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil. The US Treasury also called on Russia to immediately agree to a ceasefire.

The US President has indicated he is ready to meet again with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, but only if an agreement is reached to end the war in Ukraine.
