Trump optimistic about peace deal on Ukraine

A peace agreement that would make a new Russian aggression against Ukraine impossible could be reached soon, said US President Donald Trump during a meeting with European leaders at the White House.
"I’m optimistic that collectively, we can reach an agreement that would deter any future aggression against Ukraine," Trump said.
Trump indicated that a resolution on security guarantees for Ukraine will be reached today after his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"We will come to a resolution today, I think, on almost everything, including probably the security," Trump said.
Trilateral meeting
Trump said he expects a trilateral meeting between himself, Putin, and Zelenskyy.
"I think it’s going to be when, not if," the US President said.
He added that shortly after today’s talks, he will call Putin to discuss organizing the meeting.
"I have a feeling you and President Putin are going to work something out. Ultimately, this is a decision that can only be made by President Zelensky and by the people of Ukraine, working together in agreement with President Putin. And I just think that very good things are going to come of it," Trump stated.
Meeting in Washington
US President Donald Trump held talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Before the meeting, he said that the issue of Ukraine’s future security would be discussed at the talks with EU leaders.
Trump did not rule out sending American troops to Ukraine to help uphold a potential peace agreement.
