Trump on Russia–Ukraine war: 'I'm on nobody's side'

US President Donald Trump assured that he is not taking sides in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine, the American leader said during a conversation with journalists.
Journalists asked Trump whether he had taken Ukraine's side in the war with Russia.
"No. I'm on nobody's side. You know whose side I'm on? Humanity side. I want to stop the killing of thousands of people a week. I want to stop the killing," he replied.
The president added that he is on the side of ending the killings in the war between Russia and Ukraine — "That's the side I'm on," he said.
Trump's warnings
US President Donald Trump previously acknowledged that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want to end the war against Ukraine — a statement he made following a phone conversation with the Kremlin leader.
On July 14, Trump warned that if Russia does not agree to sign a peace deal with Ukraine within 50 days, the US will impose secondary tariffs. These measures will target countries that continue trading with the aggressor.
The American leader also stated that Putin is losing, noting that there are no winners in war.
These comments sharply contrast with Trump's stance just a few months ago, when he insisted that Russia allegedly wanted peace and said he believed in Putin's peaceful intentions.
