Russian President Vladimir Putin is losing because there can be no winners in this war, said Trump during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

According to Trump, he often speaks with the Kremlin leader to try to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. And each time, he describes it as a "nice phone call."

"And then missiles are launched into Kyiv or some other city. And after that happens three or four times, you say, the talk doesn’t mean anything. My conversations with them are always very pleasant. Very lovely conversation. And then the missiles go off that night," the US President said.

The President said he doesn’t want to call Putin an "assassin," but he considers him "a tough guy."

"He fooled a lot of people - Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden. He didn't fool me. But what I do say is that, at a certain point, you know, ultimately, talk doesn't talk. It's got to be action. It's got to be results," Trump said.

In his view, Russia is a potentially great country, but Putin is wasting too many lives and too much money for nothing.

"He knows the deal. He knows what a fair deal is. If there is such a thing as fair, there are no winners here. This is a loser. He’s a loser," the President said.

He clarified that Ukraine was "the apple of his eye", but the Kremlin's leader has realized he won’t be able to seize the entire country.

"And then I noticed, after I was out, I noticed soldiers forming at the border. And then, I heard horrible, stupid things being said from the other side. And I said they’re really handling it very, very wrong. It’s a shame," Trump said.

Trump’s sharp statement about Putin

US President Donald Trump earlier stated that the US gets "a lot of bullsh**t thrown" by Putin.

According to the American leader, the Kremlin leader tries to appear nice, but that impression is deceptive.
