Russian President Vladimir Putin constantly tries to act nice, but in reality, he lies a lot, said US President Donald Trump while speaking to journalists.

Trump said that Ukrainians have shown tremendous bravery in their war with Russia. However, he emphasized that the United States "gave them the best equipment ever made."

The President recalled that the US had provided Ukraine with anti-tank systems and "the latest and the greatest" missiles. With American support, Ukrainian forces have been able to shoot down many targets.

"Probably, it would have been a very quick war, a war that lasted three or four days, but they had the benefit of unbelievable equipment," Trump stated.

The President added that the US has invested $300 billion in aid to Ukraine, while Europe has contributed over $100 billion.

"The Ukrainians, whether you think it's unfair that we gave all that money or not, were very brave, because somebody had to operate that stuff. And a lot of people I know wouldn't be operating it, they wouldn't have the courage to do it. So they fought very bravely, but we gave them the best equipment in the world," he added.

Trump also mentioned that it was he who provided Ukraine with Javelin anti-missile systems.

"That was a war that should have never happened. A lot of people are dying, and it should end. We get a lot of bullsh**t thrown at us by Putin, if you want to know the truth. He's very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless," Trump said.

Trump is disappointed with Putin

US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a phone call on Thursday, July 3.

During the conversation, the Kremlin leader reiterated his intent to achieve Russia’s military goals in Ukraine.

Following the call, Trump stated several times that he was dissatisfied with the discussion, noting that there had been no progress toward peace. The US President also pledged to provide Ukraine with new military aid.
