US President Donald Trump tried to justify his promise to end Russia's war against Ukraine within 24 hours. According to the leader, he was being "sarcastic," according to the Full Measure program.

The host asked Trump to comment on his statement that he could resolve Russia's war against Ukraine within a day.

"Well, I was being a little bit sarcastic when I said that I would. What I really mean is that I'd like to get it settled. And I think I will be successful," he replied.

Trump's promise

Donald Trump had promised to end Russia's war against Ukraine within 24 hours while he was still a candidate for the US presidency.

After his inauguration, Trump's rhetoric changed. The president claimed that he was supposedly the only one who could end Russia's war against Ukraine.

US President's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, joked that Trump "did not specify the day" when he plans to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

At the same time, Kellogg stated that he plans to find a solution to end the war within 100 days.

Notably, this week, the US proposed a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine agreed, while Russia has not yet responded.
