Expert: Thesis about ending war in Ukraine in 24 hours is a fantasy of Trump's entourage
The claim about the end of Russia's war against Ukraine within 24 hours is a fantasy of Donald Trump’s entourage. The future US president is being convinced that "this issue will be resolved quickly," states historian and diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
"In my opinion, the claim that the war will end within 24 hours, in a few months, and so on, is a fantasy of the people surrounding Donald Trump, who are convincing him that this is an issue that will be quickly resolved," said Bezsmernyi.
According to him, if territorial negotiations begin, it will be a ticket to a global war, "with a guarantee and insurance."
The expert emphasized that the war can only be ended in another way by strengthening Ukraine.
"And this thesis, which is echoed by everyone in Trump's team — 'Peace through strength' — is absolutely correct. Because pressuring Ukraine in this situation will only escalate the situation. And sooner or later, this will become clear. It will become clear very quickly. In the Pentagon, in the CIA, in Trump's administration," Bezsmernyi added.
In his opinion, it is obvious that in this case, "there will be a rejection of certain theses that are currently being voiced by many around Trump."
Trump's position on the war in Ukraine
In early September, Donald Trump, as a candidate for the US presidency, assured that if he wins the election and becomes the head of the White House, he would call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and "an agreement would be reached within 24 hours."
Additionally, that same month, Trump met with Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian president presented his victory plan to him.
Following the negotiations, Trump assured that he wanted a "fair deal for everybody.'"
