US President Donald Trump mocked French President Emmanuel Macron, claiming that he is still recovering from a punch to the jaw from his wife, Brigitte Macron, according to Le Figaro.

In particular, the American President claims that his French counterpart is being mistreated by his wife and adds that he is still recovering from a punch to the jaw.

In this way, Trump alluded to an incident involving Emmanuel Macron and his wife during a trip to Southeast Asia in 2025.

Specifically, on May 26 of last year at the airport in Hanoi, a moment was captured on camera when Brigitte Macron struck her husband in the face before exiting the plane. Macron pretended that nothing had happened.

The French President explained that it was supposedly a joke between him and his wife, and stated that the situation was being blown out of proportion.

Trump and France's assistance

The American President also stated that he had asked France to help unblock the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump recalled that he had asked his French counterpart for help in the Persian Gulf, saying that even if they destroyed the bad guys and the ballistic missiles, they would still need assistance, and asking whether he could send a few warships immediately.

Emmanuel Macron recently stated that France would not participate in an operation to unblock the Strait of Hormuz under the current circumstances. According to the French leader, his country did not choose this war.

In response to Macron’s remarks, US President Donald Trump stated that the French leader would be leaving office very soon.

Donald Trump stated that he was seriously considering the possibility of the US withdrawing from NATO. The reason is that the Alliance did not join the United States’ operation against Iran.

Trump's statement came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US might have to reconsider its relationship with NATO once the war against Iran is over.
