US President Donald Trump made a statement regarding the possibility of redirecting weapons intended for Ukraine to the Middle East. Washington does this "all the time," Trump said during a Cabinet meeting.
The US President was asked whether media reports claiming that part of the American weapons originally intended for Ukraine could be sent to Iran were true.
"We do that all the time. We have tremendous amounts of ammunition. We have them in other countries, like in Germany and all over Europe. We're packed. And we take sometimes; we take from one, and we use for another," Trump said.
Trump added that the United States has supported Ukraine and once again stated that former US President Joe Biden had given Kyiv $350 billion.
"And we sell it now to NATO. We sell it to NATO, and they probably give it to Ukraine, mostly. I think they give it to Ukraine, but we get paid for everything that we give; we don't give anything anymore," he added.
The US President also noted that the situation in Ukraine is "very tough" and added that the United States is "working very hard" to resolve it.
Reports about weapons for Ukraine
The Washington Post, citing sources, reported that the Pentagon is considering redirecting weapons intended for Ukraine to the Middle East. In particular, this concerns interceptor missiles for air defense systems that were purchased under the PURL program.
Later, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Kyiv continues to receive US weapons, including interceptor missiles, which are being purchased by European partners under the PURL program.
