Trump loves deals: Zelenskyy unveils new plan to buy US weapons

A new US weapons procurement scheme involves signing a separate agreement using previously allocated funds for Ukraine, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"My proposal was the following: we have unused funds - they're already available to us, nothing new is needed - approved by Congress last year. We would like to use it. But at the same time, we are showing that we can use it, and we can also have a separate strong defense agreement and additional funding, because President Trump likes agreements," the President said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that for Ukraine, this could be another chance to obtain weapons urgently needed on the front lines.
"For us, this could be a win-win - the crucial weapons we need. The key issues are outlined: which weapons and in what quantity. I don't see any serious challenges here, because in this agreement, we want to obtain the weapons that, for example, Middle Eastern countries have purchased at various times in larger volumes. So I don't think we are asking for anything extraordinary. It depends on President Trump," he explained.
US aid to Ukraine
At the beginning of last month, it became known that the US State Department had sent a notification to Congress regarding a license to export weapons to Ukraine worth at least $50 million.
This was the first approved arms sale contract during Donald Trump's presidency. Since his return to the White House, there have been no new military aid packages to Ukraine.
In addition, the United States approved the transfer of more than two hundred missiles from Germany to Ukraine.
At the same time, Zelenskyy recently said that Ukraine wants to conclude an arms agreement with the US.
