US President Donald Trump has published excerpts from private correspondence with French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on his Truth Social account.
Correspondence with Macron
In the screenshots released by Trump, the French President says he does not understand Trump's actions regarding Greenland.
"My friend, we are totally in line on Syria. We can do great things on Iran. I do not understand what you are doing on Greenland. Let us try to build great things," Macron writes.
Macron also proposed holding a G7 meeting in Paris on Thursday and invited Trump to a joint dinner.
"I can set up a G7 meeting after Davos in Paris on Thursday afternoon. I can invite the Ukrainians, the Danish, the Syrians, and the Russians in the margins. Let us have a dinner together in Paris together on Thursday before you go back to the US," the letter reads.
Responding to questions about Macron’s reluctance to join a proposed Gaza Peace Board, Trump threatened to impose tariffs on French wine.
"I'll put a 200% tariff on his wines and champagnes, and he'll join, but he doesn't have to join," the US President added.
Correspondence with Rutte
As for a message from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in which he expressed readiness to resolve the Greenland issue, Trump publicly thanked him.
"What you accomplished in Syria today is incredible. I will use my media engagements in Davos to highlight your work there, in Gaza, and in Ukraine. I am committed to finding a way forward on Greenland. Can't wait to see you," Rutte's message says.

It is worth noting that publishing private diplomatic correspondence is widely considered unacceptable in diplomatic practice.
Davos Forum
As previously reported, on January 19, the 56th session of the World Economic Forum (WEF) kicked off in Davos, Switzerland, under the theme "A Spirit of Dialogue." The forum will run until January 23.
EU leaders and their delegations attending the forum have revised their negotiation agenda with US President Trump.
Instead of discussing security guarantees for postwar Ukraine, they are now focusing on the crisis surrounding Greenland and the threat of new US tariffs.
It also emerged that following a phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump announced plans to hold a separate meeting in Davos specifically on Greenland.
