Trump hints Russia-Ukraine war may soon end

US President Donald Trump believes he will be able to resolve Russia's war against Ukraine and that peace is getting closer, the American leader said during a lunch at the White House.
Trump said it would be difficult for him to surpass the achievements of the first US President, George Washington, and the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln.
"It's going to be tough to beat Washington and Lincoln, but we're going to give it a try, right? Hey, they didn't put out eight wars, nine coming. We put out eight wars, and the ninth is coming, believe it or not," Trump stated.
It’s clear that by the eighth war, Trump was referring to the situation in the Gaza Strip, and by the ninth, to Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
Trump seeks to end the war in Ukraine
Last week, US President Donald Trump held separate talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Following his meeting with Zelenskyy on Friday, October 17, the US leader emphasized that it was time to end the war along the current front line.
Zelenskyy supported this stance, stressing that Ukraine would not trade its territories.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that Ukraine and its European allies are preparing a 12-point plan to end the war with Russia along the front line.
European officials are expected to visit the United States this week to present the plan to American counterparts. The initiative reportedly includes the creation of a peace commission to be chaired by Trump.
