Trump denies 'defeat' over Putin summit location

US President Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that the information in the media about his "defeat" in the matter of holding a summit with Russian dictator Volodymyr Putin is untrue.
"The Fake News has been saying for 3 days that I suffered a "major defeat" by allowing President Vladimir Putin of Russia to have a major Summit in the United States. Actually, he would have loved doing the meeting anywhere else but the US, and the Fake News knows this," Trump wrote.
According to him, regardless of the venue of the summit, the Democratic media would criticize his decision.
The US president also accused his opponents of attempts "CRIME IN D.C., and other BLUE Cities throughout our Country."
In addition, Trump emphasized that in the last three months, the country has not recorded a single case of illegal migration through the southern border and promised to guarantee the safety of American cities.
Trump and Putin meeting in Alaska
US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Volodymyr Putin met for negotiations at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska, on the night of August 15 to 16.
Already the next morning, during the flight to Washington, Trump held telephone negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leaders of NATO countries.
According to available information, Trump plans to hold a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia on August 22. However, Putin has not yet publicly confirmed his participation in it.
