Trump demands European leaders stop buying Russian oil and pressure China - Media

US President Donald Trump, during today’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders, urged Europe to take two important steps against Russia, The Guardian informs.
An unnamed White House official said that Trump called for Europe to stop buying Russian oil.
The US leader also, according to the official, urged European leaders to increase economic pressure on China to punish it for financing Russia’s military efforts.
US demands
Earlier, Axios, citing sources in the White House, reported that the US is urging Europe to strengthen sanctions against Russia.
In particular, this involves a complete halt to imports of Russian gas and oil. Washington also wants Europe to impose tariffs on India and China.
An unnamed US official told the outlet that European countries "cannot prolong this war and make excessive demands."
US President Donald Trump himself is also in no rush to introduce new sanctions against Russia. The US leader has already promised to pressure Moscow if there is no ceasefire, but so far, he has provided no specifics.
The last time Trump threatened Russia with sanctions was if Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
