Trump delays decision on two-state solution in Gaza peace plan

US leader Donald Trump hopes for the "rebuilding of Gaza," while he has not yet made a final decision on the creation of two states, The Guardian reports.
When journalists aboard Air Force One asked Trump whether his peace deal on Gaza and the return of all 20 living Israeli hostages could lead to the creation of a Palestinian state, he replied: "We're talking about rebuilding Gaza."
"We're talking about rebuilding Gaza. I'm not talking about single-state, double-state, or two-state. We're talking about the rebuilding of Gaza," Trump said while returning from the Egyptian summit, where world leaders discussed the Gaza peace plan.
The American president also made it clear that, for now, the issue of creating two states is not relevant.
"A lot of people like the one-state solution. Some people like the two-state solution. We'll have to see. I haven't commented on that," he said.
At what stage does the Gaza peace plan stand
On October 13, US President Donald Trump and the leaders of three Middle Eastern countries signed an additional peace agreement on Gaza in Egypt. The contents of the document are not yet known.
On the same day, Hamas released all Israeli hostages who had been captured during the October 2023 invasion and also handed over the remains of those killed.
On October 9, the parties signed the first phase of Trump's peace plan. It provides for a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the release of all hostages by both sides.
Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas began on October 6, with Egypt, the United States, and Qatar acting as mediators.
US peace plan on Gaza
Recently, American leader Donald Trump presented a peace plan aimed at ending the war in the Gaza Strip.
It consists of 20 points and envisions the creation of an international Peace Council that will oversee the work of the Palestinian committee responsible for managing the region.
