Trump could end war in Ukraine by end of 2025: Zelenskyy's advisor explains

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said that the American president, Donald Trump, may end the war in Ukraine by the end of 2025, according to The Times.
In an interview for The Times podcast "The General and The Journalist", Yermak said that only economic problems can truly press the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, and make him realize that continuing this war is costing him too much.
According to Yermak, Trump really can end the war in Ukraine “by the end of this year” if he fulfills his threat to introduce significant new sanctions against anyone who buys Russian oil and gas.
According to the advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the threat of secondary sanctions will be effective, as it will also pressure China and India—the two largest importers of fossil fuels from Russia—to insist on a deal to avoid their own new trade wars with the White House.
"These new sanctions from the United States are so important because, unfortunately, all this year, the price of oil has given him the opportunity to finance his military machine," noted Yermak.
It should be noted that, currently, according to Trump’s plan, if peace is not achieved in Ukraine within 50 days, tariffs of 100 percent will be levied on goods imported into the USA from any country that imports any goods from Russia.
"They (sanctions — ed.) will create very strong pressure on Putin, and he will lose a huge amount of money. And the countries who buy Russian oil will also press him," summarized Yermak.
Trump gave Putin 50 days for a peace deal
Recently, the US President Donald Trump expressed disappointment with the Russian leader due to the lack of progress in peace agreements regarding the war in Ukraine.
According to Trump, he had expected an agreement to be reached two months ago, but it still had not happened. In response to the delay of the process, Trump promised to introduce harsh economic measures against Russia.
"We're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don't have a deal in 50 days, it’s very simple. And they’ll be at 100 percent, and that’s the way it is," emphasized the US leader.
He also expressed hope that such measures can be avoided, although he stressed that the USA is ready to act tough.
