American President Donald Trump is discussing with European allies the possibility of deploying American private military contractors in Ukraine, according to The Telegraph.

According to the publication, American private military companies could be deployed in Ukraine as part of a long-term peace plan.

It is reported that Trump is negotiating with European allies to allow armed contractors to help build fortifications to protect American interests in the country.

This plan is being developed as a workaround after the US president promised that American troops would not be deployed in Ukraine.

It is reported that American contractors could be deployed to help rebuild Ukraine’s defensive structures at the front line, establish new bases, and protect American business interests.

At the same time, the presence of private soldiers would serve as a deterrent to prevent Russian dictator Vladimir Putin from violating a final ceasefire.

The plan is being discussed alongside a number of other so-called security guarantees, developed by a coalition of willing countries led by the United Kingdom and France, which will form the basis of a long-term peace plan.

The publication notes that final details — including airspace patrols, training, and naval missions in the Black Sea — could be announced as soon as this weekend, following weeks of diplomatic activity prompted by Trump’s negotiations with Putin in Alaska.

Deployment of peacekeeping forces to Ukraine

On August 18, a meeting took place at the White House between President Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and European leaders. The main topic of discussion, naturally, was security guarantees for Ukraine.

Allies considered the possibility of security guarantees similar to NATO’s Article 5, but outside the Alliance.

During the talks, US President Donald Trump confirmed US participation in these guarantees, but emphasized that the main burden should fall on European partners.

He also ruled out sending American troops to Ukraine.

Instead, the Coalition of the Willing announced its readiness to deploy deterrent forces in Ukraine. After the White House meeting, about ten countries agreed to send troops to Ukraine. The coalition will also send its military planners to the US for consultations.

It is worth noting that yesterday, August 29, Zelenskyy stated that some very unexpected countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine.
