Trump confirms nuclear submarines deployment near Russia: 'They are where they have to be'

US President Donald Trump confirmed that two nuclear submarines are already in the region near Russia, according to Trump's statement on X.
"They are in the region, yeah — where they have to be," Trump emphasized, answering the question of whether American nuclear submarines have already been deployed.
It concerns those very submarines for which the order to redeploy was given in response to public statements by the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev.
Earlier, Medvedev threatened the United States and the West with “catastrophic consequences,” hinting at a possible nuclear escalation.
Trump’s ultimatum and Medvedev’s threats
On July 28, Donald Trump changed the terms of his ultimatum to the Kremlin – instead of 50 days to end the war, he gave only ten. The new deadline is August 8.
In response, Russia stated that the "special operation" continues. Dmitry Medvedev called Trump’s demand "a step toward war with Russia."
The American leader responded harshly: he warned Medvedev against making threats and said that he is "entering very dangerous territory."
After that, Trump ordered two nuclear submarines to be redeployed to the Russian coast – the location of their deployment is not disclosed.
In the United States, this statement was acknowledged as "rhetoric without impact." Trump’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio reminded that Medvedev does not have real power.
Despite this, Trump publicly responded, announcing the placement of submarines "in the appropriate regions" in case there is something more behind Medvedev’s words.
Although the presence of American submarines in the global ocean is standard practice, the very fact of the president’s loud public reaction caused a new wave of tension between Washington and Moscow.
